Stone and Sea: The Story Behind Our Ocean DiamondsNot every stone we set at Meyn & Mor has a tale to tell, but some carry a story so incredible it's hard to comprehend. A story of nature, time and love. A story that spans millennia, stretches thousands of miles - and still has one magical chapter left to write. When we discovered Ocean Diamonds, it felt less like finding a supplier and more like finding a piece of our own story. What Are Ocean Diamonds?Ocean Diamonds are completely natural diamonds recovered from the seabed off the west coast of South Africa. Their story begins nearly three billion years ago, formed in the heat and pressure of Earth's mantle. Over Millenia they rise with the mountains before washing down ancient rivers. As the host rock tumbles thousands of miles downriver it’s slowly worn away, finally releasing the diamond. The river finds it end at the Atlantic ocean leaving the diamond to rest amongst the gravel on the sea bed, where it continues to be stirred by ocean swells and powerful storms. That's where the divers come in. Working from small boats off the Namaqualand coast, highly skilled teams recover gravel from the ocean floor and then carefully sort through it separating the diamonds. It's slow, demanding work which marks the end of one chapter and the start of the next. Naturally Beautiful, Ethically SourcedWhat draws me to these diamonds isn't just where they come from — it's what that journey leaves behind. Each stone is shaped by time rather than by perfection: wild, brilliant, and completely unique in a way that lab grown stones can't quite replicate. Every Ocean Diamond is completely natural, ethically sourced, and carefully certified. All diamonds are compliant with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, and every stone comes with a certificate of provenance tracing it back to where it was recovered. Artistry diamonds in colours down to an N are independently graded by GIA and supplied with a GIA Report. While fancy coloured, champagne and cognac Artistry diamonds are EGL certified. It's a responsible alternative that honours both people and the environment, without asking you to compromise on beauty. Why We Chose Ocean DiamondsMeyn & Mor is Cornish for Stone and Sea - the two elements that inspire everything we make. So, when we discovered that Ocean Diamonds, like Meyn & Mor, is a proudly Cornish business, it genuinely felt like the stars had aligned. Our stories begin on different shores. Ocean Diamonds' begins thousands of miles away, off the coast of South Africa; mine begins here, shaped by the Cornish coastline. But both are built on the same respect for the sea and with a passion for doing things responsibly rather than quickly. Working with Ocean Diamonds doesn't feel like sourcing a material - it feels like a continuation of our own story: stone and sea, Cornwall and the ocean beyond, meeting in the middle. Coming Soon: The Garow CollectionThe Garow Collection is a small, exclusive range of one-of-a-kind ocean diamond rings. No two rings in the collection will be the same - every piece is shaped around the individual character of its stone, taking inspiration from where every ocean diamonds story begins, as it breaks away from it's host rock and sets off on a journey that lasted long before it reached us. It's the most personal expression yet of what Meyn & Mor and Ocean Diamonds share: patience, natural beauty, and a refusal to compromise for the sake of uniformity. More details - including a first look at the rings as they're made - are coming soon. Frequently Asked QuestionsAre Ocean Diamonds real diamonds? Yes.
